Frequently Asked Questions

About Hyperbaric and PEMF Therapy

What Is Hyperbaric Plus?

Hyperbaric Plus is a combination of both hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) and pulse electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF) both of which enhance the body’s natural healing process by inhalation of oxygen in a total body chamber where atmospheric pressure is increased and controlled, while also increasing blood flow to the capillaries for over 30%.

LyfeWell therapy is not condition specific and therefore virtually can be an effective alternative to traditional healing methods.

Under normal circumstances, oxygen is transported throughout the body only by red blood cells. With Hyperbaric Plus, oxygen is dissolved into all of the body’s fluids, the plasma, the central nervous system fluids, the lymph, and the bone and can be carried to areas where circulation is diminished or blocked.  In this way, extra oxygen can reach all of the damaged tissues and the body can support its own healing process.  The increased oxygen greatly enhances the ability of white blood cells to kill bacteria, reduces swelling and allows new blood vessels to grow more rapidly into the affected areas.  It is a simple, non-invasive and painless treatment.

What Are The Benefits Of Hyperbaric Plus?

It has long been known that healing many areas of the body cannot take place without appropriate oxygen levels in the tissue.  Most illnesses and injuries occur, and often linger, at the cellular or tissue level. In many cases, such as: circulatory problems; non-healing wounds; and strokes, adequate oxygen cannot reach the damaged area and the body’s natural healing ability is unable to function properly. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy and PEMF provide this extra oxygen naturally.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy improves the quality of life of the patient in many areas when standard medicine is not working.  Many conditions such as cancer, stroke, cerebral palsy, head injuries, and chronic fatigue have responded favorably to Hyperbaric Plus. This is due to Hyperbaric Plus being non-condition specific and is used to treat nearly all of the 43,000 medical conditions that could benefit from increased tissue oxygen and blood flow availability as the primary therapy, or in conjunction with traditional forms of treatment.

Are Hyperbaric Plus Covered By Insurance?

Hyperbaric Plus is considered an alternative form of therapy and as such, is not covered by Insurance, Medicare or Medicaid.

How Should Patients Prepare For Treatment?

Most importantly, patients should be well hydrated before and after receiving Hyperbaric Plus therapy. Water is provided to each patient and may be taken inside either one of the LyfeWell chambers.

How Is Hyperbaric Plus Administered?

Hyperbaric Plus is administered in a private setting in one of our state-of-the-art, hyperbaric chambers and in a private, quite room during the PEMF portion of therapy. Our certified, trained technicians closely monitor the patient at each phase of the 90-minute therapy session. Patients are in constant view and communication with the attending technician via two-way communication devices and may utilize their electronic devices to catch up on email, social media, listen to music, or just simply rest and take a nap.

Does Hyperbaric Plus Require A Prescription And Is It Safe?

Hyperbaric Plus does not require a prescription and is completely safe. Although there are minor risks like all medical types of treatment, overall hyperbaric oxygen therapy is extremely safe. The risks or counter-indications will be discussed with you before you sign your consent form to begin therapy.

Are There Any Side Effects?

The most common side effect is barotrauma to the ears and sinuses caused by the change in pressure. To minimize this risk, patients learn techniques to promote adequate clearing of the ears during compression or tubes may be inserted in the ears.  Occasionally some patients may experience changes in their vision during their treatment period. These changes are usually minor and temporary.

What Information Does The Technician Need To Know From The Patient Prior To Hyperbaric Plus?

How Do I Know Hyperbaric Plus Will Help Me?

Everyone’s body is different and responds at different levels and recovery pace. Hyperbaric Plus, as well as, all remedies of this nature, do not heal and should not be considered “miracle cures”. However, given enough time, the body will respond to Hyperbaric Plus therapy.

When cells in the brain die, either from trauma or lack of oxygen, blood plasma leaks out into surrounding brain tissue causing swelling and reducing blood flow.  These otherwise normal cells go dormant because they can’t function without the appropriate amount of blood flow and oxygen.  Hyperbaric Plus dramatically increases the oxygen carried in the blood plasma, making oxygen available to heal damaged capillary walls, preventing plasma leakage and reducing swelling.  As the swelling decreases, blood flow can be restored to the dormant tissue (neovascularization) and these cells then have the potential to function again.

How Many Hyperbaric Plus Therapy Sessions Will I Need?

LyfeWell believes in what we refer to as “managed expectations”. The real key to determining the level of efficacy being delivered by Hyperbaric Plus therapy is the patient. This self-administrating method can only be achieved by solid communications between the patient and LyfeWell technician and an adequate number of sessions.

Accordingly, LyfeWell does not offer a single-session-therapy session plan. The minimum number of sessions a patient can purchase is ten (10), which consist of ninety minute each for a total of 15 hours of Hyperbaric Plus therapy.

What Is The Usual And Customary Hyperbaric Plus Protocol?

In an effort to establish a base-line, or benchmark for the patient, LyfeWell recommends a weekly protocol of no less than two sessions per week. Although one session per week still produces results, history has shown that two sessions per week gains the greatest benefit and patient experience.

How Are Patients Referred For Treatment?

Patients are accepted either by self-referral or by practitioner referral. Upon arriving for their initial visit at the LyfeWell clinic, our staff evaluates patients and a session plan is recommended based on their specific needs.  To schedule an evaluation, please call us at 770-629-0093.

New Member Orientation

New Member Orientation at LyfeWell takes place on the second Saturday of every month and goes from 9am to 11am. There is no commitment necessary and no charge to attend.

The LyfeWell experience begins with a 45-minute orientation at a LyfeWell facility. These learning sessions equip our members with information and a “real world” view of how our modalities can help them, including an introduction to Hyperbaric Plus™.

As part of the orientation, members are given a tour of the LyfeWell facility, which allows plenty of time for interaction with key LyfeWell staff members.

We would love to give you a tour of our facility and share with you the benefits of selecting LyfeWell as your partner for better health.

Schedule a Private Tour

For visitors with privacy concerns, or who would simply prefer more one-on-one time with our staff and facilitators, we are happy to offer private tours that can be scheduled whenever you like, as soon as the following business day!

This consultation includes a 30-minute HBOT Plus session which allows you to get a feel for what the treatment is like. There is a $149 fee which is then applied to whichever session plan you select, which means you are essentially getting an extra HBOT+ session for free!
